Resilience on the trail

At the first hint of sun after winter's bite this February, we ventured out on a short hike to Hugh Ramsey Nature Park on Sunday. Flanked on each side by what looked like a graveyard of the native flora, the trails leading to the Arroyo bared the aftermath of the freeze on nature. In the midst of the winter burns, I found comfort being outdoors. Signs presented themselves along the path of nature's strength. The songs of cardinals, cactus wrens, flycatcher and finches echoed a song of resilience. The hawk overhead enjoyed the sun as well. God's grace permitted us to witness the damage so that we could, upon our return, rejoice in the spring, in the new life, the resurrection. I can't wait to return to the trail and find more hints of resilience like the nopal shaped like a heart.
